How Facebook Tests for Pregnancy

According to Facebook, the social network rarely uses the content of your status updates and wall posts to profile you. Facebook's paying advertisers tell a different story. Ad Age interviewed companies targeting pregnant women on Facebook. These marketers reported Facebook reps telling them that they can indeed identify their audience by targeting specific keywords that show up in users' conversations. Facebook's own Data Use Policy supports this version, stating that "key words from your stories" are used to deliver ads.

Pregnancy is an excellent example of a conversation topic that many users would prefer to keep private. Executives from the Bay Area's business, motor sports, media, government, research, and engineering communities gathered at Sonoma Raceway yesterday for the second annual Accelerating Sustainable Performance Summit.

The Scrambls KleenSpeed EV-X11 set an impressive lap record for an electric vehicle, completing the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course in 1:35:99 seconds. Driver Kevin Mitz averaged 93.75 mph and reached a top speed of 130 mph.

Accelerating Sustainable Performance

The Scrambls KleenSpeed EV-X11 will be in action again this week. On Friday, September 7th, we will participate at Sonoma Raceway's second annual Accelerating Sustainable Performance Summit.

The track demonstrations will start at 1PM with vehicles from KleenSpeed, Fisker, CalSol, Mission Motors, Alliance Auto, Porsche, and Scion. The EV-X11 will set a lap record for an electric vehicle.

According to a new study, "The Social Economy: Unlocking Value and Productivity Through Social Technologies," by McKinsey Global Institute, the adoption of social technologies could unlock $900 billion to $1.3 trillion in value. The report is based on an analysis of 4,200 companies. MGI estimates that two thirds of this value will be generated by "improved communications and collaboration within and across enterprises."

Today, a mere 5% of all communications and content use in the U.S. happens on social networks. MGI points out that almost any human interaction in the workplace can benefit from being "socially enabled," upgraded to the speed and scale of the Internet.
